Research Focus
The Health Care Science Institute (HCI) conducts researches including economic evaluation on health care; analysis on R&D, manufacturing and distribution of pharmaceutical; and inter-disciplinary investigations and surveys on health care. HCI also provides grants for prospective research, collects publications, and publishes research findings.

HCI periodically conducts "Meeting for Health Economic Researches" in order to disseminate results of studies on health economics and to support young health economists.

HCI organizes an open-symposium once a year for the most crucial themes in health care science research at that time.
- Presentation of Contracted Research Findings
Contracted researches are conducted by a specialist of the field of health care science research, and the findings and results will be published in the Journal of Health Care and Society.
- Periodical Publishing of the Journal of Health Care and Society
In order to disseminate research findings obtained from HCI's own researches, contracted researches, investigations relating to symposiums, and investigation results applicable as a public-offering, the Journal of Health Care and Society is published quarterly.
- Collection of Reference Literature Mainly in Health Care Science
A library is fully accessible inside the institute, and is to expand its scope.
- Financial Support for Research
- HCI supports young researchers by providing grants. After careful evaluation of the grant applications, those projects deemed worthwhile and/or innovative for accomplishing the HCI's goals are selected to receive a grant. The purpose of these grants is to develop Japan's health care system and social welfare, and grants are offered for studies in the fields of health economics, medical politics, policies affecting social security and the pharmaceutical industry, and other economic research or inter-disciplinary study on health care.
